Emily Dickinson's backhanded compliment

I dared not meet the daffodils,
For fear their yellow gown
Would pierce me with a fashion
So foreign to my own.

Emily Dickinson (1830 - 1886)

I found this poem on Eva's blog - thanks, Eva!
